Celebrate the very best in design, craft and innovation this London Design Festival with special events taking place across the iconic Oxo Tower Wharf, a creative hub at the heart of the Bankside Design District.

Oxo Tower Wharf Walking Tours
15 and 22 September at 11am

Discover the history of Oxo Tower Wharf, meet some of the designer makers who call the building home and learn more about how they work. Tours start at 11am on Saturday 15 and Saturday 22 September, meeting at the ground floor lift lobby, Oxo Tower Wharf Courtyard.


London College of Fashion: Artefact Footwear, Futures MA show

An exhibition challenging the notion of how products change and influence the world we live in featuring selected work from MA Artefact, Footwear and Fashion Futures graduates.

designjunction present a curated exhibition of cutting edge design. Set across three exciting venues – Oxo Tower Wharf, Doon Street site and Riverside Walkway – expect to discover international brands and boutique shops, product launches, outdoor installations and a stellar talks programme, including ‘The Rise of ‘South of The River’’, in which CSCB board member George Nicholson joins Tracy Meller; partner at Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP); Alex Lifschutz and Toby Neilson to discuss the riverside and its place in London’s urban landscape and Coin Street, the community fostering the area.

Discover the community of talented designer-makers based on the ground, first and second floors and take part in special events in participating studios.

Snowden Flood, Unit 1.01
Snowden Flood designs and makes colourful UK made gifts and accessories. Alongside her own products, she also champions the work of upcoming designer-makers and sells vintage collectables in her studio shop.  For LDF18 she hosts ‘Inside Outside’, a collection of her small works on paper.

Lauren Shanley, Unit 1.04
Lauren Shanley presents her collection of clothing and interior pieces inspired by womens’ lives, her love of collecting vintage fabrics and recycling alongside an exhibition of mosaic sculptures and wall pieces by artist Helen Swanton.

Studio Fusion Gallery, Unit 1.06
Studio Fusion Gallery showcase the work of Rebecca Gouldson, an artist who creates artworks for interiors inspired by the built environment and the natural landscape.

She uses drawing, printmaking and photography as a starting point for her impressive wall pieces and has enjoyed working to commission with a diverse range of clients, to create artworks for interiors, corporate spaces, super yachts, hotels, public museums and architectural facades. Her numerous clients include Tiffany’s, Barclays Wealth and Legal & General amongst many others.

Archipelago Textiles, Unit 1.07
Founder of Archipelago Textiles, Doreen Gittens, offers luxurious throws, bed covers and hangings handwoven on the loom in her studio. For LDF18 she is running workshops in her studio, Monday 17 September – Wednesday 19 September, where participants can experiment with weaving, colour, texture, mood-boarding and may have a go on her mini loom.

wagumi, Unit 1.08
Japanese design shop Wagumi have partnered with Maniwa, a town in Japan famous for its wood craft, to produce a special feature of lacquer tableware. A multi-award winning craftsman will be joining them especially from Maniwa, and will do live demonstrations of wood carving.
Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 September, 12-6pm, FREE.

Skylark Galleries 2, Unit 1.09
Skylark Galleries 2 artists host an array of workshops and talks including printmaking and making greeting cards from recycled materials.

15 September, How an artist uses meditation
Informal drop-in, 12pm – 6pm
Join artist Kathleen Dutton for a 10minute guided visualisation and a short talk on how meditation inspires & influences her work.

16 September. Collage Portrait Taster Sessions Workshop* 
Choose your session: 11.30am -12.30pm, 1.30pm – 2.30pm & 3.30pm – 4.30pm
Join collage artist Kate Newington and make your own portrait collage. All materials and advice provided. Just bring a large A4 full-face image of yourself or the face you want to base your collage on. Book your place: £10 per person for a one hour workshop.

17 September. Create Delight from Recycling Workshop*
30 minute sessions from 2pm – 6pm
Create unique and attractive handmade greetings cards using recycled envelopes, wrapping paper, labels etc. guided by artist Gill Hickman. Suitable for adults & children 10 and over. Book your place: £5 per person. All materials provided: make two cards.

18 September, “How I work with porcelain / paperclay”
nformal drop-in 12pm – 5pm
Informal artist’s chat with ceramicist Heather Tobias whose work often looks at groups of figures or tribes and how they confront the viewer.

19 September, What is Julia’s Portrait Party?
Informal drop-in 12noon – 7pm
Artist Nick Kobyluch shares his sketchbooks filled with portraits from the global art party taking the internet by storm, mingling between his vibrant sketches of London cityscapes.

20 September, The Four Treasures
Special materials for sale 12pm – 6pm
Artist Talia Lehavi displays a selection of special brushes, inks, brush rests and ink stones, known as The Four Treasures, which she uses in her Japanese ink paintings. Talia studied in Japan and now teaches the traditional techniques in north London.

21 September, Hands On Printmaking Workshop for Individuals & Families*
30 minutes sessions, 5pm – 7.30pm
Artist Kate Trafeli leads you through steps to create printing plates out of common materials. Make designs of your own and then print them with inks to make a unique card or print. Children 10 and over welcome to participate — this is a great collaborative family activity. Book your place: £5 per person for each print, all materials provided.

22 September, Paper, Gorgeous Paper!
Informal drop-in 12pm – 7pm
Textural artist Gill Hickman shares her love of paper and brings a selection of beautiful hand-made papers from around the world for you to see and touch.

23 September, Design with Lovely Lino
Informal drop-in, 12pm – 5pm
Artist / designer Sarah Knight will share her love of the linocut technique, and will bring a selection of her handcut lino plates to show how it’s done.
