Christmas shopping, with love from Oxo

What’s a better way to get yourself into the festive spirit than with a walk down London’s South Bank? This year find or commission unique gifts and get all your shopping done under one roof at the iconic Oxo Tower Wharf. Home to over 25 designermaker boutiques, Oxo offers the perfect independent alternative to Christmas shopping on the high-street.

Throughout the day rest your weary feet having cake and tea at one of the cafés on the ground floor or motivate yourself with the promise of fine dining with river views at the OXO Tower Restaurant, Bar and Brasserie — when, of course, your shopping mission is accomplished.

For what will be one of the biggest shopping weekends of 2017, several Oxo Tower Wharf designers will be bringing festive cheer to the South Bank by hosting a range of events and offering special discounts. Find out what’s happening:

BRAMWELL BROWN, Unit 1.18, Oxo Tower Wharf. Thursday 30 November, 5:30pm

Bramwell Brown will be running a ‘Minute Miniature’ painting workshop on the afternoon of Thursday 30 November at 5.30pm. During the workshop visitors can enjoy painting two pre-cast miniature models of their choice accompanied with drinks and nibbles.

Bramwell Brown will provide all the paints, brushes and magnifying glass stands and will also be on hand to help and chat. They will also be offering 10% off and free delivery (in London) for any clocks bought at the workshop. Guests can have their own painted characters put inside their Weather clock for free or simply take them home if they prefer. Tickets are limited and cost £15 each.


The ColorXperience group aims to enhance the way you look at colour through engaging workshops. This year’s ColorXperience ‘Green’ has been developed especially for the festive season. Experience colour through the expertise and unique insight of 3 designers, 3 disciplines all united by colour. Workshops take place on Saturday 2 December between 2pm-5pm lasting approximately 30 minutes. Design, technology and craft collide at electrobloom. Join founder Mark Bloomfield for a hands-on experience creating ‘green’ badges made from recycled plastics that you can keep for yourself or give as a gift.


Look at green and explore this complementary colour alongside its opposite, on the colour wheel, with textile designer Teresa Collins. You’ll have the opportunity to experience mixing these colours together when you make a paper weave Christmas card to send a very special greeting.

ALAN VALLIS. Unit 2.09

The jewellery designer explores the variations of the colour green, reflected in the beauty of peridots and emeralds, and considers their relationship to other precious stones.

INNERMOST, Units 2.03 & 2.04, Oxo Tower Wharf, Saturday 2 December, 10am – 4pm

Renowned lighting manufacturer Innermost with be running a special Christmas promotion with lighting available to purchase on the day. The YOY Table lamp,  Parasol Table lamp and the limited edition best seller Ghost Candelabra will be available in-store from the 30 November. Ghost Candelabra will be available on a first come first served basis and is available in limited quantities. Stop by for a chat, some unique Christmas shopping and a look at the famous Ginnermost bar.

WAGUMI, Unit 1.08, Oxo Tower Wharf, Thursday 30 November – Monday 4 December

Japanese lifestyle store wagumi is offering free wrapping for customers to the store in the traditional Japanese style of Mizuhiki .

Mizuhiki (水引) is an ancient Japanese art form that uses a special cord. The cord is created from rice paper, that is tightly wound, starched to give it stiffness, and then coloured. The ways of colouring include brightly colored Mylar (a very thin plastic), thin strands of silk, or simply painted.

Black + Blum host a special Christmas sale in the shop only. There will be some fantastic offers of up to 50% or more on some items as well as one off samples and designs.

SIMA VAZIRY & KATHERINE ELIZABETH, Unit 1.03, Oxo Tower Wharf, Thursday 30 November – Monday 4 December

Katherine Elizabeth Millinery and Sima Vaziry Jewellery have created a wide variety of unique hand made headpieces, Christmas headbands and
exquisite storytelling jewellery in solid silver and vermeil, featuring semi-precious gems from around the world.

They will be hosting a special Christmas sale in the shop only. There will be some fantastic offers, vouchers for products and classes as well as one off samples and designs.

SKYLARK GALLERIES 2, Unit 1.09, Oxo Tower Wharf. Thursday 30 November – Monday 4 December

The artists at Skylark Galleries have created a wide variety of original artworks; paintings, prints and sculpture, any of which would make perfect presents for your loved ones. Prices start from as little as £25, so there is something for everyone. In addition to this, several of the artists will offer special events, talks and demos across the Xmas weekend – all events will be ongoing across the day from 11am-6pm. Further details below.

Thursday 30 November, on demand throughout the day   

Talia Lehavi, a painter who studied traditional ink painting in Japan, will bring her Japanese ink painting tool kit and explain how Japanese ink is made. She will also bring some special brushes for purchase on the day.

Friday 1 December, on demand throughout the day   

Collage artist Gill will demonstrate how gold leaf is applied – nice and sparkly for Xmas. She will also have samples of special hand-made papers from around the world – touching is positively encouraged!

Saturday 2 December, on demand throughout the day   

Painter and sculptor Abeer Elkhateb will explain the complex process of bronze casting and show a short video of the different stages. Several of Abeer’s bronze sculptures will also be on show.

Sunday 3 December, on demand throughout the day   

Heather Tobias, a ceramic artist and painter, will bring samples of clay and porcelain she uses and demonstrate how she makes impressions by rolling lace and using various stamps.

Monday 4 December, 12pm-5pm

Artist and illustrator Kathleen Dutton will be creating personalised Christmas cards in-store.

Exclusive hand-made Christmas cards, made to order, each one unique, Kathleen can personalise them with a person’s name, or pets, or family members on request.
